- 1.25″ Diameter Accessories
- 32, 17, 13, 8, 6mm Plossl Eyepieces
- Six Coloured Planetary Eyepiece Filters
- Neutral Density Moon Filter
- 2x Barlow Lens
- Hard Aluminum Carrying Case
Celestron put together this 1.25″ Eyepiece and Filter Kit to give users essential accessories for planetary observation. This kit includes five Plossl eyepieces that provide a wide range of magnifications on any given telescope, six of the most popular coloured planetary filters to enhance the views, a Moon filter that reduces glare from the lunar surface while enhancing contrast, and a 2x Barlow lens which essentially doubles the magnification of any eyepiece used with it. An included hard aluminium carrying case protects the accessories while custom die-cut foam on the inside cushions them.
Eyepieces
- 1.25″ diameter barrels
- Accepts most standard 1.25″ eyepiece filters
- Anti-reflection multi-coated optics improve light transmission, colour rendition, and contrast
- 52° apparent angle of view
- 6mm offers the highest magnification potential
- 8mm produces a high magnification, but with a slightly longer eye relief than the 6mm
- 13mm produces a comfortable mid-range magnification
- 17mm offers a higher magnification potential than 32mm without sacrificing brightness
- 32mm has the lowest magnification potential with the longest eye relief and highest light transmittance
Filters
- Fits standard 1.25″ eyepieces
- #80A Blue:
- Most popular for the study of detail on Jupiter and Saturn
- Enhances the contrast on Jupiter’s cloud belts
- Enhances details of the Great Red Spot
- Brings out detail in Saturn’s belts and polar features
- Also very useful for lunar observing
- #58 Green:
- Rejects red and blue wavelengths
- Increases the contrast on the lighter parts of the surface of Jupiter
- Useful for enhancing the cloud belts and polar regions on Saturn
- Increases the contrast in Mars polar ice caps
- Increases the contrast of atmospheric features on Venus
- #56 Light Green:
- Excellent for the observation of Martian polar ice caps and for the yellow-tinted dust storms on the planet’s surface
- Increases the contrast of the red and blue regions in Jupiter’s atmosphere and cloud belts
- Great for lunar observing
- #25 Red:
- Blocks the transmission of blue and green wavelengths
- Sharply defines the contrast between the cloud formations and the lighter-toned surface features on Jupiter
- Useful for the definition of the Martian polar ice caps and maria
- #21 Orange:
- Reduces transmission of blue and green wavelengths
- Increases the contrast between these blue/green areas and red/yellow/orange areas
- Sharpens the boundaries between these areas on the Martian surface
- Sharpen the contrast in Jupiter’s belts and bring out the Great Red Spot
- Slightly increases surface details on Saturn
- #12 Deep Yellow:
- Enhances red and orange features on Jupiter and Saturn, while blocking blue and green wavelengths
- Lightens the red and orange features on Mars, while reducing, or blocking, the transmission of blue and green areas – increasing the contrast between the two
- Enhances the blue clouds in the Martian atmosphere
- Moon:
- Makes viewing the Moon safe when at or near full phase
- Reduces glare to bring out more surface detail and improve contrast
- Also useful to bring out surface details on Venus
Barlow Lens
- 1.25″ diameter barrel and eyepiece holder
- 2x magnification doubles the magnification of any eyepiece used
- Increases magnification while preserving the eyepiece’s native eye relief for easier viewing at high magnifications
Case
- Hard aluminium case with reinforced corners and edges
- Dual latch-locks
- Hinge carrying handle
- Custom interior die-cut foam protects and cushions accessories
- Extra room for additional accessories – simply pluck foam for a custom-fit space
