Nikon NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.8 S Lens

This iconic focal length lens, with a very natural perspective, is of the first designed specifically to work with Nikon’s new line of mirrorless full frame cameras, the Z6 and Z7 with the brand-new Z mount.

S-Line

The Nikkor Z 50mm f/1.8 S is one of Nikon’s new S line lenses. They promise new levels of optical performance, design and quality not seen before. The S line lenses all have stepping motors to ensure quick, accurate and near silent operation.

Optical Performance

This lens promises fantastic performance, hitting a new optical benchmark for f50mm F/1.8 lenses. It utilises Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass to reduce Chromatic Aberration (CA) and Aspherical (AS) lenses to reduce aberrations like coma. This lens has two ED lenses and two AS lenses.

With a focus on reducing Chromatic Aberration (CA) this lens resolves images with excellent sharpness right across the frame, even wide open. Additionally, the brightness right across the frame is very even. There is no need to step down to f/2.8 to gain sharpness or to eliminate vignetting.

The 9-blade rounded diaphragm produces, even at close focal distances, a stunning rounded bokeh.

Additional lens coatings help to prevent ghosting and flare. They repel water, dirt and grease, helping to keep the front of the lens clear and much easier to clean.

Control Ring

A new feature of the Z lenses is the customisable control ring. It allows the user to select between using the ring for manual focus or to use it for changing aperture or exposure compensation. This is a great feature, especially during recording video.

Weather Sealing

The Nikkor Z 50mm f/1.8 S is weather sealed for dust and drip resistance.
