The Olympus OM-D E-M10 IV is the lightest in its class for an Interchangeable Lens Camera, packing in an image sensor, image processing engine, and powerful in-body 5-axis Image Stabilisation for higher image quality for enjoying truly authentic shooting performance. The flip-down monitor opens smoothly for easy selfies. This is a mirrorless camera that is the perfect fit for a wide range of users, from first-time Interchangeable Lens Camera users to photography enthusiasts.
Compact, lightweight, and high image quality
The OM-D E-M10 Mark IV is attractive for its high image quality and convenient portability. It is perfect for enjoying daily snapshots, travel, parties, and taking high-quality shots while out for a casual walk.
This compact body is lighter than previous model at approximately 383 g. Even when paired with the M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 EZ, the system is lighter than a 500 ml bottled beverage, weighing a total of approximately 476 g.
This model employs a grip shape for a more secure fit in one’s hands. It provides a secure grip while keeping the camera compact and lightweight even when paired with a long telephoto lens.
The three core elements of the interchangeable lens, image sensor, and image processing engine along with the supporting in-body image stabilisation combine to deliver high image quality. A new 20 million pixel Live MOS sensor is included on the OM-D E-M10 Mark IV along with the same high-performance TruePic VIII image processing engine as on the high-end OM-D E-M5 Mark III. When paired with the superb depictive performance of M.Zuiko lenses, this design delivers beautiful photos. Additionally, the camera is equipped with improved in-body 5-axis image stabilisation capable of 4.5 shutter speed steps of compensation. The entry-level interchangeable lens camera top class performance of the 5-axis image stabilisation makes it possible to capture high-quality images with minimal blur.
The in-body 5-axis image stabilisation is capable of handling roll blur, something that in-lens image stabilisation cannot compensate for. This feature makes it possible to capture beautiful shots and videos even at nighttime when roll blur tends to occur.
Perfect for selfies
This camera is equipped with a flip-down monitor and dedicated selfie mode on a compact, lightweight body to reduce hand and arm fatigue. This design makes it easy and fun to take selfies with a single hand.
The flip-down monitor is equipped on the camera that opens smoothly to make the screen easier to see when shooting selfies. The grip is designed to be easy to hold even with the left hand, and the rear button layout has been adjusted to prevent mistaken operations, all to make selfies easier to shoot than ever before.
When the monitor is flipped down, the camera automatically switches to Self Portrait mode. In Self Portrait mode, simply touch the camera icon on the monitor to easily capture photos and videos. The shutter is activated approximately one second after touching the camera icon, ensuring enough time to strike a pose after activating the Touch Shutter.
Full array of shooting features
With the wealth of shooting features available on the OM-D E-M10 Mark IV, users are able to easily capture high-quality, impressive photos only possible on an interchangeable lens camera. It also supports breathtaking 4K video recording.
In Scene mode you can easily select the perfect settings for the scene or subject. This mode also supports swing panorama shots, which can be captured simply by pressing the shutter button and moving the camera horizontally (or vertically) to create panorama shots in the camera.
Use Advanced Photo mode to easily capture photos brimming with originality. Swing panorama shots are also supported on this mode just as in Scene mode.
Choose from 16 varieties and 31 types of unique Art Filter options. Instant Film is also available that creates the unique look of instant photos. Pop Art I and Soft Focus are compatible with fine tune, which allows you to adjust the filter level.
Powerful 5-axis image stabilisation makes it possible to record beautiful 4K video even for hand-held shooting. It is also possible to extract and save still images from 4K videos. 4K video can be recorded without switching to video mode on the OM-D E-M10 Mark IV.
Silent mode is perfect for situations where you don’t want to make noise, such as recitals, concerts, and when shooting sleeping children or pets. Although this was only available in SCN/AP modes on conventional models, it is available in P, A, S, M, and ART modes on the OM-D E-M10 Mark IV.
Enjoy up to 15 fps high-speed sequential shooting (Silent Sequential H (AF/AE fixed, when using electronic shutter)). This feature makes it possible to accurately capture split-second photo opportunities.
The moving subject tracking algorithm has been completely redesigned based on the pro use OM-D E-M1X contrast AF. It utilizes the high precision focusing of contrast AF while significantly improving tracking precision for moving subjects. This feature makes it possible to achieve high precision focusing on moving children.
Face detection performance from the high-end OM-D E-M1 Mark III is utilized on in this model, ensuring continuous focusing even for faces that are partially hidden, such as in profile and when lying face down.
Expandability for a greater range of photo enjoyment
The ability to import recorded photos to a smartphone for sharing, and to edit and manipulate them on a computer in exactly the way you imagine makes the post-shooting process of Olympus interchangeable lens cameras even more enjoyable. A variety of unique accessories are available, making it more fun to take your camera with you.
The Olympus Image Share (OI.Share) smartphone app has been improved for smoother connection settings and image import.
You can instantly import recorded images to your smartphone for easy sharing on social media. The OM-D E-M10 Mark IV supports an always-on connection via Bluetooth and background communication so you can view and import images even when the camera is in your bag. It uses the same built-in antenna as the OM-D high-end models for a more stable connection than on conventional models.
The new OI.Share offers two types of remote control shooting. You can use Live View Remote Control which lets you shoot while viewing live view images on a smartphone, and Remote Shutter which lets you operate the shutter via smartphone. You can instantly activate Remote Shutter by setting the always-on Bluetooth connection.
USB battery charging
The battery can be charged in the camera via USB. Use a power bank, etc. to keep your battery charged when not in use and while on the go.
Wireless radiowave external flash compatible
The OM-D E-M10 Mark IV is compatible with the optional FC-WR Wireless Radiowave Commander and FL-700WR External Flash. Simply set the flash unit in a location away from the shooting spot and control the output remotely via the camera while shooting.
M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 EZ
The most compact* 3x electronic pancake zoom lens with amazing portability
The thickness of the lens is less than half compared to conventional lenses (22.5mm when power is OFF). It weighs only 93g and is very portable.
Zuiko Image Quality
It contains quality lens elements including 3 aspherical lens elements, super HD element and ED element to provide clear, sharp image from the centre to the edges without aberrations.
Maximum image magnification of 0.23x (35mm equivalent maximum image magnification: 0.46x)
The closest focusing distance is 20cm at the wide end and 25cm at the tele end. Because of that, a maximum image magnification of 0.23x (35mm equivalent maximum image magnification: 0.46x) has been achieved. It is the greatest image magnification of a standard zoom lens. The optional macro converter (MCON-P02) changes the maximum image magnification to 0.38x (35mm equivalent maximum image magnification: 0.76x). It turns the lens into a semi macro lens.
Thoroughly Pursued Usability
The fully rotating focus ring is comfortable to operate, just like a normal interchangeable lens. The zooming speed can be switched in two steps according to the rotation angle of the zoom ring. You can slowly change the angle of view when you have time, and can also quickly zoom when you don’t want to miss a shot.
