In regard to the optical design, the two extra-low dispersion elements, three high refractive index elements, and two aspherical elements are incorporated into the lens design to help to control aberrations and distortions for improved clarity and sharpness. Offering Ultra Multi-Coating, this feature has been applied to all lens elements to reduce lens flare and ghost effects for increased contrast and colour fidelity. More of its reliable features, the Linear STM autofocus motor delivers fast, quiet focus, and the lens barrel incorporates a custom function switch and a focus hold button for optimal focus control.
