Tamron’s introduction of the SP 15-30mm F/2.8 Di VC USD G2 (Model A041) completes its trinity of G2 f/2.8 lenses with Vibration Control.
Tamron’s original 15-30mm has already gained a reputation of being one of the best ultra-wide fast lenses available for full frame cameras and this updated version promises to be even better. It has outstanding image quality, no doubt assisted by the introduction of an eXpanded Glass Moulded Aspherical (XGM) lens. The quality is further enhanced by the addition of several Low Dispersion (LD) lenses.
Newly Developed Coatings
Historically, ultra-wide angled lenses suffer from ghosting, often due to the difficulty of depositing even coatings coatings on the bulbous lenses. Usually the centre of the lens has a much thicker coat than the edge. Tamron have developed a new method of coating these large lenses evenly so the Anti-reflection eXpand (AX) layer at the edge is as effective as at the centre.
The lens is moisture sealed and comes with a fluorine coating, amongst others, on the front element to further resist dust, moisture and dirt.
This lens has 9 rounded diaphragm blades that produce beautiful quality bokeh
The model A401 lens is compatible with Tamron’s TAP-in console so you can tweak the lenses parameters and even update its firmware.
