The OM-D E-M10 Mark III is a micro 4 thirds interchangeable lens camera, designed with first time camera users in mind. Its small physical size masks the fact that it is jam-packed with great features.

Rock Steady

One of the most impressive features of this camera is its 5-axis image stabilisation. The really neat thing is that the system is in the camera, not in the lenses so you get a stabilised image no matter what lens you use.  The system compensates for the following movements: side to side, up and down, pitching backwards and forwards, yaw (swinging from side to side), and roll. This feature is great for photographs and brilliant for video, which can be captured in 4K Ultra High Definition.

Ease of Use

Modern cameras can be overwhelming, especially for newcomers so, in addition to the usual modes,  Olympus have included 4 separate automatic modes to make things easier, more fun and more interesting. There is a standard Auto mode, a Scene mode where you simply select from one of 6 scene themes, an Art mode with 15 different filters to choose from and an AP mode, described below. The tilting LCD is touch sensitive and can be used to determine the focus point.

Advanced Photo Mode

One of the most annoying things with most cameras is that if you want to make use of some advanced photography modes, often leading to the most creative looking photos, you constantly need to dig deep into the menus to find them. Olympus have obviously thought about this and have included an extra AP mode on the main dial. One that really appeals to me is the Live Time mode. This allows you to take a long exposure in low light and watch the progress of the shot on the LCD, you can stop the shot whenever you want. This would be an awesome feature for things like light trails, star trails, water movement and many other long exposure situations.

Communication

The camera comes equipped with Wi-Fi, allowing for easy communication with other devices and sharing of photos via the Olympus Image Share app. You can even process RAW format images in the camera before sharing them. Additionally, this app also allows you to remotely control the camera so you’ll never be missing from those group shots again.
